This beautiful rug is an Ait Bou Sbaa rug (Bousbaa means lion in Arabic) the Ouled Bou Sbaa is an Arab nomadic tribe living in Morocco and Mauritania, as well as Western Sahara.

A rug usually has its main motif woven just off center.In addition to the colours, the pattern of Ait Bou Sbaa carpet has its own story to tell.The shapes around have their ancient symbolism, and it is this combination of colors, symbolism that makes Ait Bou Sbaa clothes so unique.Characteristic of the rugs is that they often have a border of goat hair in a kind of triangle shape.
