The truly authentic, beautifully crafted vintage Handira bedspreads are becoming increasingly rare to find. That's why we take great pride in our stunning collection of vintage Handira blankets.
LUCK, FERTILITY AND PROTECTION
According to tradition, the Handira was meticulously handcrafted with love and prayers by female family members of the bride. The bridal blanket was spun by hand, and each sequin was individually sewn onto the fabric. The Handira symbolized luck, fertility, and protection against evil, often worn by the bride as a bridal cape.
AN ANCIENT TRADITION IN A MODERN TWIST
Gifting a bridal bedspread to your best friend, sister, or cousin on their wedding day is a unique and beautiful gesture, carrying on the ancient tradition in a contemporary way.
STYLING WITH A HANDIRA
These exquisite Moroccan bedspreads make a stunning statement on your bed, adding a stylish and sophisticated touch to your bedroom. Consider hanging a Handira as a captivating wall decoration – it creates a truly magnificent focal point. You can also drape the blanket elegantly over your couch for an effortless yet elegant accent.
❗ PLEASE NOTE that a vintage bridal blanket is rarely large enough to cover an entire bed. It was originally a cape, not a bedspread. Therefore, the blanket is a beautiful decorative piece that covers a portion of the bed in combination with other bedding. The bed used in the photo measures 155 x 200 cm x 45 cm. (It can be compared to a queen-size bed USA size).
