This beautifully made 100% leather pouf is a perfect addition to your interior. It's a stylish way to add an extra seating to any room.
It takes 6 artisans to make one pouf
From the beginning to the end we attended the process of making these beautiful embroidered handcrafted leather poufs. It starts with finding the best leather. Our pouffes are made from cow leather and not like almost all Moroccan pouffes from goatskin. Cow leather is thick and more durable abrasion resistant.
The process of tanning has been done with all precision. No harsh or harmful chemicals are used. This is very often used to speed up the processing process to usable leather. Our poufs absolutely has now smell like a lot of Moroccan poufs have. And it‰Ûªs all because of the way they are handled and made with care. Not a cheap commercial process.
It takes 6 artisans to make one pouf. After the tanning we select the leather. The colors are handmade and then the leather is going to be painted. There‰Ûªs one artisan who draws the molds. After that an other craftsman cuts the pieces leather according the molds. When the pieces are cut the poufs are brought to women who embroider the pouf. The decorative stitching is totally hand stiched by the women. When everything is done, the pouf is put together by an other craftsman.
How to fill the pouf:
The pouf will be delivered unstuffed. Filling is simple. In Morocco this is traditionally often done with straw. Old pillows, blankets, towels or old clothing also serve very well as firm but flexible filling material.
Unzip your pouf and unfold it. The leather has a slight folding line. This will fade after a while by filling, as the leather becomes smoother and stretched. Fill your pouf piece by piece. Make sure that the sides are filled well. Do not be too afraid to fill it properly. Fill your pouf completely. Zip the pouf and adjust the shape a bit when needed with your hands.
