The Boucherouite rugs (say ''bou sje reed'') are made in the 70s and early 80s by Moroccan Berber women, for domestic use. A functional and decorative object in their homes. Since the 50s nomadism is increasingly disappearing, and production of wool from sheepherding has been much reduced. Because wool became rarer in Morocco, they started to use recycled synthetic materials such as scraps of cotton, nylon, lurex and occasionally wool.
